My Experience

  • 2021 - 2022

    Altana AI

    US Federal Implementations Tech Lead
    • Matured the 3 quick-start analyst playbook Jupyter notebooks into a product known as Atlas Foundations and became a full python package with the addition of industry-specific use-cases, a Python API SDK, and other tools for working directly with the KGDB
    • Built reusable tools for the Implementations and US federal teams. These included a KGDB production graph release tool, a hub-to-spoke KGDB data transfer tool, API test scripts, a customizable data scrubbing script for the KGDB to remove PII, US Persons, etc., tools for creating offline versions of the documentation so they could be shared in classified environments, etc.
    • Lead contracts with both US and UK federal agencies as the main technical point of contact. With my team, we successfully delivered custom Altana KGDB data, mission-specific API scripts and database queries for discovering insight into client’s use-cases. At its peak, the team and I managed 14 customers simultaneously
    • Helped the BD team on strategic initiatives including proposal writing, technical oversight, etc.
    • Assisted in the hiring process interviewing and assessing talent for roles across the organization. Additionally, helped onboard new team members in my organization and upskill non-technical employees
  • 2021 - 2021

    Altana AI

Senior Data Scientist & Solutions Manager
    • Adapted the TF-IDF NLP algorithm to develop a model that would determine the likelihood of an input good to a facility being in an output. Reducing the amount of manual vetting needing to be performed on supply chains by over 50%
    • Created the first value chain automation script in PySpark; ingesting client data, aligning records with Altana data, building out supply chains, filtering transaction noise to build value chains, and finally formatting the data for ingestion into our custom PowerBI dashboards
    • Developed 3 quick-start analyst playbook Jupyter notebooks for clients using the low-level data assets and access methods—API, knowledge graph database (KGDB) parquet flat files, and a hybrid approach.
    • Created an auto-updating set of KGDB documentation for client distribution. This involved ensuring that all tables and fields had descriptions, presenting data coverage metrics, update frequency, and designing graphical representations of the graph nodes and edges
    • Lead a contract with 2 UK federal agencies as the main technical point of contact. We successfully delivered mission-specific API scripts and database queries for discovering insight into clients’ use-cases. At its peak, the team and I managed 14 customers simultaneously

My Interests

I love to travel! I have been to six of the seven continents and hope to reach the last one, Antartica, soon. While traveling, I love to hike and take tons of photos. For me, photography is a creative release from the mostly left-brained software development world. My photography hobby eventually evolved into the side-business, Alex Tonetti Photography. The business perfectly complimented my career and my interest in entrepreneurship. Additionally, I am very passionate about finance and the financial independence community, music and biking to explore my city.
